Ryanair Floating Base Contract

Hoping some of you can shed light on Ryanair's (Brookfield's) Floating Base Contract. Does it allow them to send you to any base at any time or are there certain restrictions/certain bases you can select to work from? Can anyone apply to be put on a floating base contract or do they contact you? I believe pilots on the contract get 20euros extra per hour on top of the standard rate. Have people on the floating base contract found this to be enough to cover the accommodation costs?

I am asking as I have available accommodation at several UK bases and if UK bases begin recruitment again I would be interested in the floating contract

UK will be frozen for a while so plenty of time to work out the maths. 20 quid extra is not much is you end up moving a lot. Expect with RYR the worst case, i.e a lot of moving around. No base-No home. Go into it with your three eyes open.

Floating base means exactly that. You have no fixed base. By definition they can send you to any base they want and in theory never the same base twice. Your entirely at their whim.

You cant specify basis you dont want to go to, you just go where your told.

Hope that helps

Your information is correct, the point is that NEW BRK contracts are about 8% lower than the current ones so those 20 euros are paid on top of a smaller amount.

No floating contracts on offer, and all existing floaters (oh er ) have been based. Though I expect most new Capts feel like they are on floating terms!!

But 5/5 is gone. Everyone is based and then moved around on 5/4 or 5/3

@ jasonjdr

That's not strictly true, floating contracts for f/o's aren't available but a captain from my base has just gone onto a floating 5/5 contract as of the beginning of December!!

Either he is the last one or he knows somebody who did him a favour, but in this airline I doubt it!
