Staff Travel on retirement
ABAP, the Association of British Airways Pensioners, is campaigning to have the new BA Staff Travel rules amended to remove three clauses which severely penalise a few thousand pensioners - many of them aircrew who are doubly penalised by the new rules.
The details can be read on a blog at:

QC's opinion has been sought and their next stage in the campaign - which involves pensioners around the world as well as those in ABAP plus present staff who recognise this is the thin edge of the wedge - will be announced shortly.
One key element in the plans will mean that the BA pensioners affected will not be able to take Staff Travel whilst retired staff of other airlines will continue to enjoy Interline travel on BA. This seems grossly unfair.
BA's merger with IB and AA raises further questions since unless these airlines have the same punitive restrictions in their staff travel schemes, some pensioners of the merged airline will be treated very differently to others.
If there are any serving or retired staff of either IB or AA who can clarify the present position regarding staff travel in their present airlines we would be pleased to hear from you.
Finally there is an overwhelming irony in this whole thing. BA's treatment of the affected pensioners will not affect its bottom line, yet the patent unfairness has raised the anger and outrage of many more staff and unaffected retirees. If BA agreed to make the three small amendments the pensioners have requested it would earn the support of all 47,000 pensioners who'd feel it had "done the right thing".
