Hi Lindberg

I would also like some info, can you give us an idea, lifestyle (which I asume is fantastic) cost of living, pay long term prospects, etc.
Sorry to be a pain, but from the outside looking in, it's tricky to get good gen.

Thanks.

Hi again
If you expect to fly on 767 it is not too bad because you will fly to Paris, London, Rome , Singapor and Frankfurt Which is very important in order to do your shopping (groceries)Because you w ont find many thing on the ISland
Sometimes it looks like Moscow 20 years ago because the shelf are empty in the shops

Otherwise the roaster is good, peoples are nice to work with, the maintenance is good and usually you do around 3 to 4 trips a months (around 75 hours)

So 1 Paris return and 4 days OFF and 1 or 2 Reserve and another trip to Europe and again a mix of 5 days Off and reserve ect ect

I think that now you can work 8 weeks ON and 2 Weeks OFF

To tell you frankly I did enjoy it

To Der Hammer

You are wrong

They have an expat FO since a year on the 767

So nothing wrong to apply since they are getting #4 B767

Ja, you can hammer them with applications.
Perhaps you get a job if you offer to build a de- salination plant for Mahe?
Fantastic islands, worth every effort to be there but have back door, deportation for swearing at beach boys happens. Beach boys wife is mistress of president! It was one dive instructor at Coral Strand Hotel, a German of course! Hotel now owned by Russians! Perhaps soon Russian pilots friends of oligarchs fly for Air Seychelles?

Was in contact with the chief pilot recently.

Only recruit locals for the domestic fleet however if you have a shorts or Twotter rating they may give you consideration. If you do get in you will be on local terms and pay.

i am from seychelles

well i am still a student in higher secondary but i know some stuffs abt air seychelles. air seychelles do not recruit foregin first officer only captains.

well i am curently in A level and air seychelles take A level students only to train as a pilots, to be a pilot just pass ur A level( 12th year) with minimum 3 Cs (there are no cadet programmes) .thats the main requeriment but 100% for seychellois nationals, then you will be sent to south africa for your pilot studies then you will get a right seat in the domestic fleets ,then, depends, 3 to 5 years until proceeding to 767, if i am not mistaken all first officers are seychellois and i heard there are still vacancies because at my school there will be list of all courses that government sends students and pilot course was there but only 3 students per years so for me competition will be high so the higher the grades you get the easier your chances.

then if you want to join air seychelles as a pilot for money then please dont come salary is so low, if you really loves airplanes and love for air seychelles just like me then you ca join, if i am not mistaken domestic pilots get 300 to 1000 USD and international pilots get 1500 to 4000USD

seychelles is one of the most beautiful places in the world, if you like island hopping in the aircraft then this is the place to be, aircraft are old but are well maintained twin otters are there like brand new like they were 20 yeras ago

cost of living is extremely high now in 2008 an dwill be in 2009 due to economic crisis here
food is short in supply thus expensive 1kg of rice is over a dollar and water too expensive and its true there is rising crime mostly robbery but people are friendly and good to live with

airport is small but air seychelles and airport is big in my heart
my dream was always to work for airseychelles, so next year will be my imortant year gotta do my lessons well and get that scholarship so anyone wanna be my friends can mail me at [email protected]

bye
