Jumpseats and commuting
A few things already said but just to clear it up,
(Thanks in advance)
Jumpseating
1-Jumpseating has to be paid?
2-How much for a european sector?
3-Is it still cheaper than id90?
4-Any opinions on someone living outside of the UK, (in the EU) on how they communte/ do u use id90, jumpseat, average spent in a month etc..
concessional travel
1-what is the average when on id90 that you get upgraded to F/C by cabin crew/checkin etc, in few words, what can you expect when travelling in your own company with an ID90 in average? ( someone back there said, it depends on who is flying/at the check in, any responses on average more or less...
2-What changes are coming in the future with regards to concession travel?
better for us, in some ways better but others worst, etc?
3. Is Balpa helping out alot in these issues?
(Thanks in advance)

1-Jumpseating has to be paid? Yep...BA give nothing away
2-How much for a european sector? 50 to 66 Pounds (ID90)
3-Is it still cheaper than id90?
4-Any opinions on someone living outside of the UK, (in the EU) on how they communte/ do u use id90, jumpseat, average spent in a month etc.. ID90's at 60 odd pounds a time
concessional travel

Commuting in uniform tends to trigger an upgrade, otherwise probably not unless you know someone on the crew.

better for us, in some ways better but others worst, etc? Matter of opinion, but things are getting worse in 2009 when BA Staff Travel changes. (But it is better for short serving staff)
3. Is Balpa helping out alot in these issues? As much as they can (which is not a lot)

what about jumpseating???
Thanks for the info on id90 but what about jumpseating??
Ill repeat;
-Price for jumpseating in a EU leg?
-Do you need much time in advance to request a jumpseat or is enough to present at the checkin?
-Is it a sure deal,, I mean would you go more for a jumpseat ticket or an ID90 before your reporting time at Heathrow, ?

There is no 'jumpseating ticket' for FOs. You buy an ID90 or you don't get on the aircraft. Then you might have to sit on the jumpseat anyway if the aircraft is full of commercials.
If you want to get on the aircraft you need to have bought your ID90 and listed for the flight an hour before. A new system for allocating jumpseats has been introduced and you will now have to ask to be considered for a jumpseat about 65 mins before departure.
There is no such thing as a sure deal on BA staff travel.

chances of getting upgrade to business (on short haul) at the gate when traveling on an ID90? Veeery little. When I worked for BA the rule was no upgrades unless they have to be done because economy is overbooked.
And if economy is overbooked, chances are that business is full as well, which means all Pax on ID90 stay behind...
