Indigo are down about 40 odd pilots at the moment - and with an aircraft arriving every six weeks thats a steady demand needed. I don't know about the rest though.

coming back from there !
there is a small demand for Fo's (indigo at least) but probably not for long. India DGCA (CAA) has decide to force companies to set training policies for Fo's (capt upgrade) in order to get rid of the around 800 expats captains, i.e to justify why they hire expats. seems to be enough indian fo's to meet the demand of the market

ya there might be demand of first officer in indigo because it hold only 8% of total market share and it also started its own cadet pilot scheme.and earlier when companies hire f"o they just take pass out students with just 250 hr but now they take with atleast 1000hr. and in more few month these will be rises to 2000hr and there r still 7000 indians which pass out after six month do u think that they will get job and now f'o have to do TR of there own mean more money they have to spend .

DGCA india made a rule that in every aircraft there should be atleast one indian to raise our indians not expact .because earlier plane flyed by both expacts by which indian those need a job dont get the job and complaint to DGCA for the neglectance of nationals after which DGCA now decided to send back all expacts to there country.and it will take just one year when u see all plane indian register r flown by only indians.and also many expact maintenance engineer will be send back to there home town

I think he means expat, which in this case = mercenary.

in level 4 "expact"

translates to the salvation of Indian Aviation.

In Del last night, wand was monitoring the "rw 28" movements, from a position of the W hold, from the International terminal.

Eventually an Indian voice, asked the question that I could not ask: "why are the departures, not being spaced between the arrivals.". Several Mic Clicks in appreciation.

However, the final app controller knew his job, he was sending them down the shoot, at exactly 6 miles apart, he managed to sqeeze us in, into a gap that looked on TCAS to be too small, and too late.

Similar problems in most major Indian airports.

I understand the new new New Dehli Airport will be ready in 2012.

re L4, the English spoken was understandable mostly by myself, having worked in India, and lived in Nottingham. But my Co whose third language is English, could not understand a word. He speaks and understands English to a high standard. (L5-6) perhaps.

re mercenary, I do not consider myself a mercenary, more a facilitator.

Agreed!

I didn't say expats were mercenaries but maybe that's what shuchim was conveying.

They could use a few Gatwick tower controllers for example, there then?

shuchim, whilst I can sympathise with what you say - no one is entitled to a job. Just because you pays your monies doesn't mean its your right to a flying job - like everything inlife you have to fight for what you want, and quite frankly the thought of 7000 250hour CPLs buzzing about the skys fills me dread. Not just because of their low hours, but won't they all be ready for command at the same time(ish) creating problems with having a balance of experience within an airline. Too bottom heavy then too top heavy.

Anyway, back to the original point of this thread......
