Does Ryanair sponsor non-Europeans?
Just curious. I am an American with an FAA ATP and a JAA Frozen ATPL and have 3 years of European flying experience and have lived in Europe for a total of about 12 years but left four years ago and have no European living/working permit.
Without getting into the question of whether or not working for Ryanair is a good idea, would they consider somone of my experience? I have about 4500 hours and am currently flying as Captain on a CRJ in the US. Most of my time is in an airline environment (LX in Europe) and a regional carrier in the US.
Would they help with a visa and working papers? Do they need pilots?
Thanks!

Not that I work for Ryanair, but the impression is that you are on your own. If you have to pay form your own uniform, then I doubt they'll be sorting out visas for you!
If you want to work in the UK as a pilot - and gain a suitablr visa, you will need to demonstrate that there are no local candidates suitable to fill the job.

Thanks for your answer. I worked in Europe for many years actually and stupidly did not get my CH-Passport before I left the country. Big mistake.
I would love to get back there to work.

Lugano,
Don't suppose you fancy eloping to San Fransisco to engulge in a gay marriage? That way I'd get a green card, you'd get a EU visa and everyone is happy.

Let me consider that for a second or two.
Nope.
Thanks for asking! I was married before for 11 years (to a woman) in Switzerland and like the Euros better, but it's gonna have to be woman again when/if I tie that knot again!
Cheers!

Lugano,
I'm ex Ryanair and I do believe they will assist with validations, work permits etc. I've flown with Brazilians, Russians, Canadians, Americans etc who do not have any tie i.e married to an EU citizen etc and Ryanair have assisted in getting the requisite paperwork sorted out for these guys.
If you're not type rated on the 737 however, it may prove a bit problematic. If you are, then apply, you've nothing to lose. Expect to be offered an job as a FO at least for a winter season until you get to know them and they get to look at you. Then you could expect a command assessment pretty quick with your background.
BUT, please do thoroughly research Ryanair and everything about the company before you commit to them. If you make an informed choice, then you may find Ryanair can be bearable while it serves your purpose.

Not all bad at Ryanair, but why would you want to come over to this over taxed, beurocratic and lower standard of living place called JAR land??
If i had a sniff of getting my Green Card back id be outta this place like a cat on a hot tin roof!!!
If you want to fly 737's, go talk to the original low cost airline "Southwest".
To answer your question do RYR need pilots? Yes, Yes, Yes lots!
Good luck to ya!

You must not have really spent time in the US if you think the US is low-tax, low beaurocracy and high standard of living.
I like Europe and have lived in both places. They both have good points and bad points I guess.
Anyway, getting into Southwest is not easy and isn't really what I want anyway.
Personally, I like Europe better than the US.
Just sayin'.....

The reason I am sort of intrigued by Ryanair is the idea of being home every night. Being on the road as much as we are in the US is very, very tough for the poor salary. Some of the Ryanair domiciles are appealing to me.

Lived there long enough to enjoy my house with a pool, cheap fuel and tax returns.
Suggest you apply to Ryanair via the website or contact Brookfield Aviation in the UK. With your experience if they think there's anyway way of getting you in the LHS then expect a quick response. However, as suggested by other posters most of the non eu nationals working in the company come as Cpts rated on the 737.
In the RHS = no shortage, they have an endless flow of cadets that have to pay for their own training.

Can I ask if Ryanair offer direct entry commands without 737 experience?

Was in touch with them 2 years back.
You have to have one of the two:
1. EU citizenship
2. 737 T/R
They can't hire non typed captains AND sponsor work permits. If you have 737 t/r, they will arrange the work permits.
