Hi there,
is the rumor true that cargolux captain applicants have the take an additional screening before being invited into the upgrade course ?
if so who else does this?

downsouth: Doesn't he do that already before the selection into a flightschool and company thereafter?
I do not agree with this evaluation before upgrade as long as it is not being done by an independent agency.

Yes, bad news with the expansion. Next year 16 a/c. 2015, the CEO stated, between 15 and 18 a/c. So no expansion in next 8 years. New-hires expect up to 20 years in right seat. This is also due to that many many of todays captains are in their mid-40's.
Now everyone hopes that this statement is incorrect, or that the market change to the better for CLX, or that a new CEO takes over with more ambition for the future.
Once there were rumors saying 25 a/c 2015... which they still have options for. But options could be sold I guess.

Just read what he says.
2013 - 13 747-8
2015 - 15-18 747-8
2015 - no more -400, all gone.
Today 13 747-8 firm orders. Another few (2-5 a/c) will be firm over next few years to be able to have 15-18 747-8 2015. The rest is options. And yes, even the newest -400's will be gone (8 years old by then). Not to competitors but to Oasis Hong Kong Cargo (yes, will open and feed to Cargolux from mainland to HKG, flown by Oasis pilots based in HKG) and to Silk Ways (flown not by CV pilots).
I hope I am wrong, but this is taken from facts and rumors.

CommitedToStay: "However, from what kind of source is the "Oasis Hong Kong Cargo" fragment then?"
Well, that's just a rumor from an employee at Oasis. Apparently inside that company it's a strong rumor.
I am like yourself in the company (CLX), and I surely hope that Ogiermann's statement is incorrect, or at least will change with time. I've always heard 25 a/c 2015 until just recently when I read what he said.
Cheers
