Question Is Korean still hiring expats ?

The word is that Korean will not hire expats anymore and all expats contracts will be terminated before 2005 or will not be renewed after that date. Is it true ?

Expats are a pain in the neck. They follow SOP's, perform to a good standard and speak up if something is not right.

That type of attitude does not quite fit into the culture down there at times.

I thought that because of the bad safety record the FAA required that Korean operated with expats in order to be granted the landing rights in the US.

Muzzy Head. Wrong. No restrictions

The situation currently is: As a result of recent industrial action by the Korean Pilots Union (FCU), the company has agreed to cap the recruitment of foreigners as at 31 Dec 2001. Further they have agreed to reduce the number of expats by 25-30 % by 31 Dec 2005.

According to The latest edition of 'The Log',
four of the seven sacked Korean Air Pilots have been thrown in the slammer for leading strike action.

Sounds like a great place to fly!!
