Question Days Off

I am wondering, how other companies dealing with day off request? In our operation we have to request a day off 6(six) weeks in advance. Also we have to give 14 days notice for a staff ticket.
Is that normal operation or extrem in our case?

The 6 weeks in advance on requesting specific days off, goes for my outfit as well. We are trying hard right now, to make it 4 weeks.

Staff tickets, we pull out of a maschine 15 minutes before departure if we wish!!

Ever heard of calling in sick? UAL pilots tried for years to have a program so that you could call sched. and have a day off and have it subtracted from your annual vacation. Company finally saw the light and sick leave went down dramatically. Bottom line, either work with us pilots to solve the problem or suffer the results. And no I don't work for UAL.
