Have heard that recruitment will continue for the moment but is under dayly review with the current situation. My guess is that there could be orders cancelled and pilot job losses once the Americans and friends start the offensive. Hope it does not happen but I think it could deeply affect tourism in the Middle East and especially Dubai.

As the saying goes "you got to be in it to win it" and holds true for anyone wishing to apply to Emirates. Recruiting as I witnessed today is still going strong and there are still 8 blokes being interviewed each week for the unforseeable future. I guess with over ten aircraft arriving next year and more the year after pilots are still required in Dubai. For all of you out there fearing the worse for this part of the world please do not let the media put ideas in your head as its still business as usual! Who would have expected what happened to AN and how far away is Oz!!!

Hogchopper: The answer is no. EK require you to submit a letter of permanent release from your previous company. They are not looking for short-term help but long term employees; they did hire pilots on furlough with seniority #'s at other companies in the past but this is no longer the case (probably due to the number of pilots who are trying to get in).

Currently only DXB. The pilots submitted a proposal to management to allow basings in the UK and Australia. The management looked very carefully (we are told) at the proposal and decided it was not in Ek's best interest to do so. The future, who knows? Maybe once the company gets much bigger (still on the cards but then again who knows?) they may see it as an alternative to the expense of housing everyone in DXB.

I don't think EK will allow foreign baseings, due to the fact that the salary is not competitive if heavyly taxed in europe, plus the fact that they want you yo spend your money in dubai.
