Post BA vs Virgin starting salaries?

I've heard that BA starting salary for DEPs is low, thanks to restructured pay scales aimed at recuperating money spent on training cadet entrants. A tad unfair on DEPs who received their training elsewhere I feel. Does anyone have info on starting salary mainline BA longhaul vs Virgin longhaul?

Try the BALPA website - www.balpa.org - if you're a member.

BA DEP starts on around £33K + allowances.
Average takehome as a DEP on mainline shorthaul in first few years is £2400-£3000.

I know of one recent DEP on the 75/76 who has left to go to Virgin on the 744.

BA is no way the best payer, ie. Monarch starting pay for experienced pilots is around £40K + they give you 3 stripes !

Or GO or Easy jet and get a command within a year and be on £60K+ .....

BA is a VERY long term view !

Thanks Chalky and TEMPO.

BALPA membership pending.

Tricky to quantify the long-term benfits of BA (pension, eventual salary, stability) versus the opportunities to secure an improved starting salary and captaincy in under 10 years.

If you'll allow a follow-up question, would BA long-haul pay more than BA short-haul?
