Question Contract Work- worth it or not??

I currently work for an airline in the UK and possibly have the chance to take extended leave. I am considering doing a bit of contract work, through a pilot employment ageny, and was wondering about the pitfalls or pro's + con's involved with this type of flying. Any previous experiences (good or bad), or advice you have, would be much appreciated. Cheers LB.
