bmi management are at it again - stuff the pilot whilst the industry is down
I have just received a letter from the company, the management want to use this time to seriously downgrade our roster protection and remove one of our only lifestyle aggreements, the request day off.
They beleive that we should be able to work an endless duty day and accept roster changes at any time so that if you have arranged to go out around your roster they can change you and there is nothing you can do.
My only suggestion is that all those pilots that have or are going to be laid off, go elsewhere and tell bmi where to stick it, How low can they get, the problems are all their's, if they cannot sort out a rostering system that works why should we all suffer.
I feel some very heated dissucions are going to happen soon internally and industrial action could follow??????????

But if it's BW's you are referring to...

bmi have the good fortune of having one of the weakest employment arrangements (the AFS) of any large airline in Europe. I can't even begin to compare how lean it is compared to large state carriers like Air France, Lufthansa, Aer Lingus, British Airways etc.. bmi should concentrate on making the present agreement work! I'm sure the management would love to work to CAP371 but that is the legal maximums. Nobody wants to work to the limits. Especially not out of an airport like LHR where it can take about an hour to get from the aircraft to the staff carpark. The pilots at bmi should dig their heels in and resist any attempts to change their employment conditions.
