Post Hadj 2002

Hi everybody,
just saw a job posting for B747-200 by a Miami-based firm NEA holdings for the Asia-Hadj-ops 2002. As my company is phasing the classics out, I´m looking for a short-term contract to keep up the spirit of the -200. Any comments ?
Cheers,
Mags

Even flown the haj before? If not, recommend you talk to someone who has before you commit yourself. Flying a tramp 747 on the haj isn't my idea of a flying job, especially now while these islamic fundamentalists are willing to do anything within their capability to infidels.

If ya get on the right Haj contract, it can be great: Jakarta is close to heaven..

Others such as Saudi Haj can be pretty dull.
India Haj okay if ya get a good hotel in Bombay.

Jakarta is close to heaven, have you seen the news lately? Jakarta is not the place to be if you are a westerner, especially an American one.

As for Jeddah, there are reports of "some" foreign crewmembers getting harassed in the last month. So I guess that this will be a Hadj to remember!

Check out www.climbto350.com

I saw 2 advertisements there for Hadj crews.

Good Luck.

Mutt:

Nope, ain't seen no news lately regarding Jakarta.
I was speaking on behalf of good memories from flying the Garuda Haj in the 90s.
No idea what the current situation is like.

Perhaps not so good eh?

May be looking for haj flying myself if the furloughs here in the US continues.

Got 6 Haj's behind me, don't need 7.

...$100 USD/hr to fly left seat into the sandpit, according to "climbto350.com." That pay scale was attractive about 10 years ago.

100 per hour left seat B-747? That sounds about what Air Atlanta offered this TowerDog last year. (But if I went home on days off, they would deduct $250.00 per day from monthly 75 hour guarantee.... )

Hope they have changed that system now..?

Yes indeed TD...still the same, and yes you are right, not changed in many a moon. Also would not be surprised if they ask crews to double up this season in accomodation as well...ugh.
