Volare and Air Europe Italy - Some Questions...
Yes, I know that some of these questions might have been asked before - I am looking for updates if possible. Questions:
1. Have the seniority lists been merged - and if so, will the Air Europe trans-con pilots keep their positions?
2. What's the status of the fleet replacement - still planning to replace 767s/777s with A330s (assuming a better economic environment in future)?
3. Has Air Europe had any new-hire classes for 767/777 in the last few months? Where have these pilots come from?
Perhaps Obi Wan Kirk or some of the other frequent Italian commentators could contribute. I recently saw an Air Europe 767 - quite a beautiful site!!!!!
Cheers

Hi Lavdumper!
AEI have recently hired two pilots from Gandalf Airlines who are going thru line training right now on the B767. The pilots have a Volare contract and that salary has now been reduced by 10% due to the Swissair problem. I know Swissair are selling their 49% stake. AEI intend to stick to the B767s and there is rumour they are going to be taking on another 2 B767s. If your a Captain the salary is good otherwise I'd go for Neus Airlines, that's if you want to work in Italy.

Obi Wan,
You are always reliable with your responses - I appreciate that!
A few add-on questions:
1. What will happen to the 777s?
2. Do your Gandalf friends like AEI?
3. What's your situation - have you been able to find a position or are you still looking?
Any other replies from knowledgable Volare/AEI people would also be welcome!
Cheers

Hello everybody!
Just a few questions out of left field.
What sort of minimum requirements do Alitalia, Air Europe, Lauda, and other Italian carriers have?
This may seem like a silly question now..
What language is the air law in italy? What about on the radio and flightdeck...italian or english?
How do most people get into airlines in Italy? Are they all ex-airforce? Does Italy have a GA scene?
I hope somebody can help me with some answers to these questions that I've had floating around in my head for quite some time now !!
