BMI holding pool.
Two part Thread;
1. How about a quick poll to see how many there are of us in the holding pool,
I'll start it off - 1) Me!
2. Has anybody in the pool recieved any paperwork or further contact since being told, or have any info regards the pay/roster/contract for new FO's?

Hi all,
Question for the Regional Guys&Gals. What's the average wait in the pool? Weeks or months??
I'd also like to ask what the bond arrangement is for new joiners?

Evening all, wondering if there have been any development in 'Hold Pool' times with the latest round in recruiting in Stockley Hall? Any Information would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen the mainline training programme on the board in the training office- there will be ongoing courses for some time to come. If you are in the hold pool, here is the vital bit.
You must have a current multi-engine IR when you start training.
If your course date comes around and your IR has expired, you will be sent away. It is a JAR requirement, which makes it a contractual requirement. Whatever it costs, it is your responsibility.
Whether or not you have a course date yet, check the expiry dates in your licences. I know of at least 2 OATS graduates who finished their licences in March, who are waiting for course dates. How sick would you be to wait that long for a course, only to have it all taken away on day 1?
You have been warned.

I don't really understand that requirement, it would be useful to see the applicable JAR ruling. The Company will put you through a full initial type rating course on joining which would automatically include an IR revalidation, future OPCs & LPCs will then be based upon this.
Or is this uniquely applicable to new graduates?

It is applicable only to students who do not already have a type rating on a multi-pilot aeroplane.
For the relevant JAR ruling see my post below.
I can vouch for this: the bmi TRE who signed my bus type rating said it is a requirement; there is a section including date of previous IR expiry in the type rating paperwork AND the TRE also said that new starters HAD been sent away because their IRs had expired. It is unlikely that he said this to frighten us, given that he had already checked our licences...
Edited to remove misleading information.
