Royal Brunei through Rishworth

Does anyone know how a bond works through Rishworth if you are looking for work with Royal Brunei. Do you have to pay up front for the rating or is it payed off over the salery?

Thanks for your input on this.

I will try that, thank you. Does anyone know if they are recruiting at the moment or in the near future?

Last I heard from Rishworth is that Brunei recruitment for B777 had slipped to end May 2007 at the earliest. Some feedback from current R Brunei pilot employees would be welcome. It does not look like the best place to be, judging by photographs and the fact that it is a strictly Muslim country.

Strict Brunei??

Yes Brunei is a Muslim country, but its not really strict. Like all countries they have their rules and guide lines to follow, however the vast majority of Brunians are peaceful, law abiding people that are just like the rest of us and are most certainly family orientated people. As expats we live in sort af a parallel existance with them, they don't mind us drinking beer and eating certain types of food provided we do it out of sight and not in their faces. But even during there holy month they are very tolerant of what we do and us of them. As for RBA, well? not exactly a fast moving go out there and get it sort of airline!!!! more like sit back and lets see what happens??:ugh:

recruiting

They are nearly always recruiting, but are you talking about the Airbus or the boring fleet ( not the wrong spelling )? They recently lost quite a few very experienced Capt's from the Airbus fleet that didn't renew their contracts, this in some ways tells you that things are not right here!!! ( you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people, all of the time ).

Expat Capt- around $11,500 (Brunei) pm, there is an $1800 housing allowance ( you will be lucky to get anything comfortable for this amount ), they pay a small proportion of your childrens education here, but a bit more if they are in boarding school abroad
The is no life insurance or medical care as such, however if you are ill and admitted to the local hospital here, they will cover some of the costs, if you survive the drive there??
If you are sending money abroad from here, especially to the UK the exchange rate is not good, ie $1 = .036p

The number of expat and local Capt's & F/O's leaving for new pastures, in some way tells its own story. A lot have very little faith in the airlines management and it seems they are only looking to promote locals into key management positions. It also appears that they are slowly pushing expats out and replacing them with locally recruited people, but this is all hush hush
