Jet Airways (Mumbai) B777 Recruitment

Rumor has it that Jet Airways (Mumbai) are desperately seeking B777 captains/checkers for a May/June start date. Interviews are being held in Mumbai and Amsterdam and ALTEON will be doing the training. Whilst many applicants have attended these interviews, no firm offers of employment have been made despite assurances from the interview panel that formal offers and a contract would be sent out immediately.

The terms and conditions also seem to vary and the only non-Indian base is LHR where you operate 9 days on and 8 days off. The BOM based crews are being offered 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off. Approximate nett monthly salary is $11,000 forline captains and $12,500 for checkers. A little on the low side!

A very senior ex-MAS senior and highly respected captain is responsible for the B777 operation and the infamous Capt. Werner Borchert () is still unfortunately the Vice-President of Flight Operations. After Borchert’s fiasco at Itihad, how is he still with Jet Airways? The Malaysian captain set up Jet Airways B737 operation and ASIANA’s B777 operation.

Most of the applicants already interviewed appear to be retirees from Delta and American and all aged 60 or over. Second biggest pool of applicants is from Korean Air where almost all the Canadians have applied and have apparently been accepted, but as stated above, are still waiting for their formal offers and contracts. It would come as no surprise if all the Malaysian captains (some of which are checkers) with Korean Air also jump ship and relocate to Mumbai. This will leave Korean Air very short as new B777's are being delivered this year.

Looks to be a good deal.
Good luck to those of you interested!

Curious, is that US dollars, or pounds, or what?

and that's 'net', verses 'gross'?

also, how about housing? provided? paid for? allowances?

any other significant allowances?

Thanks, KC135777

Jet Airways Vs Air India

Air India, in order to attract B777 Captains, has now raised their B777 salary to $12,000 (USD) a month BUT no days off, leave or per diems! Dream on Air India! To get the $12,000 - you need to apply directly and not through an agency.
Jet Airways still looks to be a great deal.
