Surviving spouse has travel entitlements curtailed !
A colleague of mine, after a long fight, recently succumed to cancer. I am told that his wife now finds that her discount travel entitlements are limited to the airline he worked for only and travel with other airlines is now on a full fare basis only.
While her life is still in Europe at this stage, her home country is Australia, but her late husbands airline doesn't fly there anymore. Therefore a connecting flight with another airline is the only option . . . . . but at full fare !
Are the airline unions and managements so hard hearted and with so little compasion that they can allow this to happen to the surviving spouse when she arguably needs access to this facility the most ?
These conditions are a result of mutual negotiations. What type of person could negotiate such a penalty ? After decades in the industry, this is how they are treating his surviving family !
If true it's pathetic, B..... pathetic !
