EVA AIR
Anyone know much about Eva Air? Have been invited for an interview with them as FO on the MD11-F.
Never having flown any cargo before.........is it better than the passenger flights/routes?
What is Eva like to work for? Pay structures? Benefits? Upgrades? Do you have to live in Taiwan? Can you commute?
Any info is welcome.

Be careful what you interview for, and what they give you. They have a habit of leading you through the interview process indicating that you, in your case will be a first officer. After all is said and done you may come out of the pipe line as a cruise first officer which is worthless time. Make sure you get your details in writing from EVA when they make a formal offer in writing. Make sure they clear any ambiguities contained within their contract.

24 hour reserve for all days worked
No opportunity to ever get off reserve... ever
Constant schedule changes (several per day)
Few days off
Days off assigned randomly and changed often
Lies, threats, insults and intimidation by management
Poor living conditions
Little hope for ever upgrading
Hostile work environment
About 8 years ago five of my good friends went there, four of them on the MD-11. Within two years all of them had either been fired or quit.
The 747-400 is marginally better. My current company has a few guys who came from there after completing the full 4 year cntract. They said, for them, it would be around 7 to 8 years for upgrade though, for a new joiner that time may be different.
