About 5 days for me, though I selected a date quite soon. As it happens all the recent dates were full and they emailed new options. Good luck.

Am I the only one that find the Thomsomfly application form to be the worst of any airline .. it is what 13 pages?!? Thomson cut it down to something reasonable please.. Wish thinking i guess Have to admit I have carried their application form around for 6+ month now, just can't get myself to sit down and fill out all those damn pages of very usefull information about how long it took to solo all the way back in 1996, sectors to get a PPL etc.

I agree, I work for them. Worst form I've ever seen. But, it's their train set and if you want to play then you fill it out. If you don't then that is also your choice.

JetAvia on the thread where to postulate for FO 737 without experience you write:
Well it will be hard.. I am in the same situation with basecheck on the 735 completed in december still no job What can we do other than get 100 hours on type and apply for a job with the airline none of us really want to work for
and here you say

Save yourself some dosh and fill in the bloody form. Nothing like a bit of commitment to get things moving . Yes the application is rubbish but YOU are the one who is nlooking for a job.

I know several Captains on 737s who went elsewhere rather than fill in the form. Perhaps that made them unsuitable for Thomsonfly. However, when you are more experienced, surely where you went to school and what exams you took is a little irrelevant.

If you want to join the party you have to jump through the hoops. I think its an HR Department thing.

Indeed. I can't see the relevance either, but remember, Thomsonfly (formerly Britannia) have not employed direct entry captains for many, many years. This form was designed around 200hr newbies and sadly the company's administration hasn't kept pace with 'events'. I'm not trying to justify it, just point out that the form was never designed for the purpose that it is now being used for, or rather 'was' being used for as I hear direct entry commands are on hold. To be honest, the form is a pain, but if you would rather go somewhere else and forego what is on offer then good luck. Like I say, I think there are many suitable internal applicants now so missing out on a direct entry command into a career airline is a brave decision based purely around the application form....the days of direct entry commands may be over for some time.

Time to command depends on when you joined and how many hours you have when you join. Minimum is 3000hrs to be considered, but remember it is primarily done on seniority and joining now you will be something like 670 on the list. If the expansion continues as rumoured, then we will be recruiting 500 more pilots over 5 years, which means an awful lot of commands too and I can see someone joining with say 1500hrs taking only 2-3 years to be considered AS IT STANDS AT THE MOMENT. However, if the expansion stops I think someone joining now will sit there for 10+ years again. Remember that there are a lot of pilots on the seniority list as high as about position 350 that have less than 3000hrs TT at the moment, so even based on seniority, if you have 3000hrs when you join you will leap-frog many if you are suitable. If you don't have the hours then it is a lottery as every year that passes will see more pilots in front of you reach 3000hrs and be in a position to bid and 'trump' you by virtue of their more senior position. Like I said though, if things continue at their current pace then it should only be a few years. Also remember that some pilots will be deemed not suitable for command despite their hours and seniority.

One thing I enjoy about T fly is that its an airline where people enjoy what they do.

I dont usually respond to these types of threads but, I came to this country 2 years ago, (yes i know taking your jobs, serves you right for invading us years ago always comes back to bite ya) had to write all of the exams even though already had an ATPL licence, filled in the T fly application only to be told on day 2, I needed the Jar licence in hand to be considered.

Re-applied 6 months later when I had completed all the exams and flight tests, filled in the form again, was lost in the mail (registered even) so I filled it in a third time and then stored it on my hard drive.
You are willing to pay thousands for a rating yet cant sit down for 2 hours in front of a computer and fill in a form for a company you say you would like to work for.
Actually I enjoyed the form, it brought back all my happy memories of my career progression through aviation, you know throwing bags on the ramp in minus 40 weather, gassing up float planes in the north of my country with moskitoes as big as some of the women I see out on a friday night, being paid peanuts to hopefully fly the next season. Oh and who cant forget the collapse of aviation in my country, mmm what fun but you cant sit down for 2 hours and fill in a form...

Personally I am glad you cant, as you really dont deserve to work for us! I do know of a company where you dont really have to fill in anything except a cheque for 20 000 sterling, I hear they are even trying to give you 2 weeks vacation now. Just imagine how many forms you could fill in with that 2 weeks management is trying to push down the pilots throat.

Tell you what, for a small 1000 sterling I will sit down with you and fill it in, look at all the money I will be saving you, pm me if interested, amex not accepted but bank draft is, payable in advance...

I will be thinking of you with my 6 weeks and my free bottle of water

I have a ps------ In those 6 months that you have been carrying the form around, my seniority has gone up 80 names...

Thomsonfly stage 1

Hi all.

I know (and have done a big search), that there is already written bibles about the stage one selection with Thomsonfly, but there is one thing that i have some trouble finding:

Actual examples on the math and numerical reasoning ect that is being tested in stage 1.

Is there a kind soul in here that haves any actual examples that they maybe can PM to me?
I will be very greatfull as i am going to the assesment soon and need some direct hints.

Thanks very much

God that confused me Chocks.. I very nearly posted the same thing yesterday but was quite sure I didn't until I saw your post. Wondered whether I'd been up sleep-posting again.
