Question BA Connect 145 Rosters

Hi Folks,

Just wondering if anybody would be able to provide me with an idea of a typical 145 roster ex SOU and BHX. Especially the destinations from SOU, it appears that only domestic routes are served ex-SOU, but would a SOU based 145 operate european sectors from other airports in a normal day?

What are the average number of sectors in a day and how many night stops are to be expected?

Finally - what's it like to fly?!

Many thanks for any info

Cheesy

SOU is usually domestic GLA/EDI/MAN only with 4 sector day trips. However, I believe there is the odd tour through MAN that takes you into europe. Used to be VIE and CDG over three days. This might have changed now though.
BHX is a very mixed bag. Lots of variable four sector day trips and plenty of nightstops or longer tours. Although you'll need to like DUS and FRA ! Odd nightstop in GLA. Normal day trip would be something like BHX - ABZ - BHX - HAJ - BHX. Plan on working 5/6 on and 2 off in the region of 750 hours PA. Average 1 or 2 nightstops a week (don't be surprised to get more though !). You do get to make a wish for what you would like your roster to look like, e.g. no nightstops or maximum touring, you'll get it if it fits in with the trips available each month and the pattern of work you are in.
The 145 is a nice little jet. A bit frisky at times, especially in a strong wind, but a good start if that is what it will be. BA Connect is the same as any other airline in the UK. It has its bad points and it has its good points. Personally I've no real complaints. There is a reasonable scheduling agreement in place (better than most) and people who have moved on to pastures new tell me the grass is no greener, just has bigger aircraft parked on it !
If you have the choice SOU is a smaller base which means you will get to know everyone very quickly and it will have more of a "family" atmosphere. However, the route structure is more limited although you may spend a good portion of your life touring out of BHX or MAN anyway !
BHX is a bigger base with more routes and more differing duties. However, this does mean it hasn't got the same atmosphere (although that's not to say it is unfriendly). If you want to build your hours quickly and go to lots of different places (in Germany) BHX is the best bet. If you want to live in a nice area and aren't too bothered by going back and for to Scotland then SOU is it.
Hope that helps.
