Erosion of T&Cs, how to fight back?
For about a decade now, the steady erosion of pilot T&Cs worldwide has proceeded relentlessly, and pilots have, from all appearances, remained frozen like deer in headlights.
Clever managers have played one group off against another, constantly driving the baseline down.
Whereas I suspect that the only effective way to deal with the problem is a united worldwide effort, which judging from past efforts, is unlikely to remain united for long, there are some smaller things that all could benefit from without too much dissention.
Under the umbrella of IFALPA the worldwide pilot group should have enough clout to generate some really significant savings in many routinely purchased items.
Things that come to mind are insurance, finance, car rentals, hotels, and the list could go on and on, the principle should be obvious.
These things have been done at National Association level for a long time, but surely the greater numbers of the International level would drive better bargains?
I suspect that many out there have workable ideas that could be used in a concerted effort to halt the slide, or even possibly claw back some of the losses, in T&Cs, but no-one speaks out. Why is this?
