Lightbulb Danish to Fly for Ryanair !

'Ryanair flew into Copenhagen last week in a bid to persuade 200 disgruntled pilots at Scandinavin carrier SAS they would be better off elsewhere'
I see the no frills ceo is pinching pilots from SAS! When they join the ranks at Ryanair there is going to be big problems wen it comes to paying them! SAS pilots have always been paid well and are amongst the best paided pilots in Europe if not the World ! MOL will have some fight on his hands as SAS pilots earn no where near the €150,000 Ryanair Captins get ! It will be very interesting to see how this will unfold. Sources available on request !

So...

Did Ryanair get to CPH?

Or did they go to Malmo like their commercial flights do

Yep, all them danish boys with 300K villas in Rungsted and Dragoer are gonna go for a semi-commutable job - because they are unhappy with T&Cs at SAS - and they choose to go to FR???

Yeah - now I understand that 1-tonne metal pig w/ wings outside the DUB terminal

A friend of mine whose relative flies for SAS once told me their pilots can annually nominate a trip where they may extend their layover by extra day(s) at the companies expense (hotels etc paid for by SAS). A paid holiday at the companies expense.
I wonder if the SAS guys expect MOL to be as generous?

I'm surprised MOL would go chasing after SAS guys - the kind of pilots he normally reserves venemous side swipes for....like molly coddled, union ridden, over paid, under worked etc etc.

A match made in hell.

The danish SAS pilots are unhappy with their emloyer right now,and show it to the world by turning up at this Ryanair thing. Ryanair can say "pilots from this great major is lining up to join, that's how great it is to work for us". Mutual benefit even if it's not "for real".

Few or none will have the guts to leave SAS (these are very union-oriented people), and certanly not for an outfit like Ryanair.

Danih to Fly For Ryanair!

Dear Fly Fly Fly,

I take your point ! MOL must be offering an attractive wage package on the table for these SAS pilots to join Ryanair ! You never know he could be offering them more money to work for Ryanair ! Well if this is the case I expect to see all of Ryanairs pilots looking for a bumper increase in their wages ! SAS pilots are amongst the best paid in the world and MOL could only coax them to join Ryanair if the money is right !

Actually I don't think it's the salary that will keep everybody with SAS. Only the (justified) fear of going to something worse, overall.

Fly Fly Fly

IF you were earning €200,000 a year would you give up €50,000 off your wages ?? I dnt think so ! Ryanair and SAS are the same when it comes to the way they treat there pilots with silly clauses in their contracts and that rubbish

Hi Bigmouth - well the guy who told me that - its his Dad who flys for SAS, and he was boasting about his latest extended layover trip to Bangkok.
Maybe he was bull****ting me. Please clear this up so I can go back and tell him he's a moron.

I was an aspiring summer pilot for Aer Lingus in 1979. One of my classmates,a Swede, was married to an SAS flight attendant. She said (way back then) that on some occastions SAS would schedule "pleasure stops" in, say the French Riviera, to give crews a break. What struck me then was the reaction of the Aer Lingus flight attendants, most of whom did "out and backs" to Europe with no crew stops. They unanimously wondered why anybody would want to be away from home unnecessarily to stay in such a place as the French Riviera. To each his own!

Idunno: You are incorrect. They get two 100% free tickets per year, and as many 90% discount tickets they want. Stand by of course.

About the RYR visit at CPH: I have read through the specific offer and it is taylored in such a way that it appears that Ryan can match all the benefits they already have. A couple of thoughts: The salary is for UK based CP's and not mainland based. (Which is almost the equivalent, but in EUROS). They say they can offer pension, disability, death in service, health insurance schemes...what they don't mention is that THEY will NOT pay for it. And then, 28 days annual leave, how can that be an offer when SAS have 42 in addition to 5-4 roster? My advice; if it's too good to be true, then it isn't.

Post Sinking Vikings.

I think you'll find the imminent collapse of SAS to be of great motivation. Unemployment does seem to concentrate the mind, so.

I hope they join. We enjoy a good relationship with many Scandinavian countries and there are already pilots from all over the region in FR. I hope that they negotiate a good deal as well. It can only be good news all-round. There is no hiding the fact that FR needs pilots to fuel the expansion program and I am sure we will all benefit from a good deal struck with a large number of new entrants. I suspect that many of them are experienced Captains and FOs that will want to get the best deal possible if they are to be living and working away from home with the loss of benefits that they have been used to.

Yep. Its all true. I have a friend whos maid knows a shopkeeper, that is married to a dentist, whos plummer once in 1974 talked to a actual SAS pilot!

...and guess what... SAS actually has this resort in mauritius or was it iceland.. anyway.. it only for REAL LIVE SAS pilots. There they can endulge in any activity they wish, while counting their money...

Snap out of it boys.. SAS guys are just as tired and overworked as everybody else. What is 200K Euro when you have to pay 65% tax anyway!

Danish to fly Ryanair !

Rumour has it in Sweden that the SAS pilots are going to go to Easyjet instead of Ryanair because the wages and working conditons at Ryanair are poor!

Rubbish!!!

Friends! I can once and for all tell it´s not true! When it comes to the salary, well it can be right when all Danish extras and overtime is included(Not in Sweden or Norway).

The problem in SAS, as in all majors, is that the ones on the lower half of the line, is paid maybe 25% of that, sold out by their union to protect the "nobles" at the top.

Someone told me a couple of years ago "-pilots will kill themselves over seniority" It´s true and verry verry sad.
