Easyjet dual basing GLA/EDI
I've heard a rumour recently that Easyjet are going to require all new joiners who apply for either GLA or EDI base, to be dual based between the two.
Has anyone else heard this / know any more about it?

emma,
they have suggested it but balpa are against it. so are the crews and even the new ones who have just joined have been given either GLA or EDI bases.
it may change but for the moment you are safe. if you are in balpa give them a call to get the skinny.

The CAA insist that it is on a voluntary basis only, but there is anecdotal evidence that EZ are 'unofficially' making it a condition of joining, ie: if you want EDI you must accept a joint GLA/EDI base otherwise it's LTN or somewhere else.
Getting someone to stick their head above the parapet and formally file a grievance over this is a more complicated matter without a clear paper trail.

I have it on good authority (management
) that once the bases get 4 or more aircraft then there no longer needs to be a dual basing as they basically become 'self sufficient'.
GLA is up to four a/c for the summer with the rumour of an announcement about EDI later this week....
I know all the cadets that have been sent up here have had dual basing enforced upon them by the company. It definately was NOT voluntary but when you're a fresh-faced 500hr cadet you're not really in a position to tell eJ where to shove their dual basing!
Come the Revolution things will change
