Question easyjet / copenhagen

Hi!
Recieved a mail from a swedish aviation site (flygtorget)- said that easyjet was looking at the possibility of starting a base in copenhagen.
Can anyone here shed any light on this?

Early morning departures from CPH (& MUC) with destination UK expected in 2006, not necessarily bases though....

Jetavia, why should Eazy want to merge with Sterling ? FL Group, a minority shareholder in Eazy, can hardly commit Eazy to bail them out. Eazy will probably boost their CPH presence when the market improves (read: Sterling goes belly up).

FL has bought pieces of Easyjet several times now. I can imagine they want a bigger piece. One way to do that would be to trade in Sterling/Maersk Air for a larger piece of Easyjet and that is what I think will happen.. it would also give Easyjet a strong position in the Scandinavian market..

Further a cooperation could be started with Icelandair to start transatlantic low fare flights maybe tied up with another cooperation with one or more lowcost operator(s) on the american side of the pond..

Just a thought .. we will see.. any bets?

I do not believe Sterling will go belly up now that Maersk Air has been aquired and there is less competition.. thus less overcapacity, easier to make a profit etc.. if anyone will go its SAS!
