Ryanair Bases

Can anyone tell give me some information on which Ryanair bases are best for someone with wife and two young kids.

ie. Some lifestyle, good schools and preferably good weather

If it's the good weather you're after then Prestwick, Dublin, Shannon or Cork of course.

Bergamo is a lovely city - not too big, loads of beautiful nature 'round - but Milan is near by, so would look at cancelling some of the missus' credit cards

If you want an international (or english-speaking) school for the kids, Rome, Frankfurt or - of course - all the UK and RoI bases.

If I didn't have good reasons for waiting for the (possible) Lübeck base, I'd go straight for BGY, though

Good luck with choosing - brgds fm

The place to be is Bishops Stortford - just down the road and the population consists 99% of aircrew for the various STN based airlines. I'm not sure if this is your cup of tea though, as you'll bump into people you know from work wherever you go. Alternatively, Stansted Mountfitchet, Elsenham, Thaxsted, and Cambridge are within easy reach and a little bit nicer than Stortford.

Go and have a look and see what you think.

Hey irishman,

Thank you very much!!! I don't know london and I really had no idea where to start.
Do you know if there is any company transport like a bus or something to or from one of those places you mentioned? Or is there any discount for crew members in any airport bus?

Bishops Stortford has good rail and bus links to the airport and there is a discounted travel card for STN based employees. However, it would be much much easier for you to get a car as soon as you can.

Any PIK based FO's care to say what their take home is? I have read the various threads and PPJN plus Ryanair's own website which claoms an FO can earn £70K after three years, which would seem to indicate some kind of increments linked to service?

As a new joiner at PIK being type rated what could I expect? Especially since I would be coming from the dark (orange) side of the force?

Thanks guys.

HI ALL,
LOOKING FOR INFORMATION, IVE APPLIED TO RYAN AIR FOR A JOB (I AM AN ENGINEER) AND WAS INTERESTED IN THEIR OUTSTATION ENGINEER POSITION AT CORK. BUT WHEN TALKING TO THE HR PEOPLE THEY SAID THEY ROTATE PEOPLE ON A 6 MONTH BASIS BETWEEN THE OUT STATIONS.IE. ONE WOULD SPEND 6MONTHS AT ONE BASE AND THEN MOVE ON TO THE NEXT PLACE.IS THIS TRUE..?? CANT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND HOW IT CAN GIVE CONTINUITITY ECT.. YOU GET YOUR SELF INTO A ROUTINE IN ONE PLACE AND NEXT THING YOUR GONE..!
ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Question

Are there going to be Cork based cabin crew or are the crews staying only overnight with changes of personnel every day?

Thanks.

Thanks for info captplaystation, it surley is a pisser.. but you cant argue withthe success of the company. it must be a nightmare for them from the point of view of security passes etc. it takes months in most places for them to do police back round checks. id imagine you would be just off the temp id and next thing your off to some backwater place like shannon!!!! .. only joking! such a pity though was pinning some amount of hope on them to come up trumps, i live in the area and have made it my home but travel very regularly so ill stick to what ive got for the time being... would be very interested to hear of any expansin plans they or RE may have for 2006. at the risk of repeatinfg my self there are some routes there for the taking... manchester brussels ema glasgow london luton verona(summer) faro canaries.. anyone have an opinion on these or other posibilities???
by the way anyone have an idea how jet2 are doing with the newcastle thing???
