Ryanair base change
Just one simple question:
As a permanent, having once a fix base, is it usual (i know it is possible) that RYR changes my base although I donīt want it?
Do you know some pilots who have experienced such a base change?
Thanks
Mike

Your contract includes a clause that reserves Ryanair the right to change your base whenever they see fit at 7 days notice.
Although not common, I have seen it happen, but not on a regular basis, so yes, but only a slim chance of it happening.

Thank you very much. I have the same clause in my present contract working for my actual company. I saw it happen two weeks ago to one of our CPTs.
Not a nice thing.

I have the same question, since I am starting as a DEC based in STN with this clause in my contract. I thought that inspite of the clause, the chances of this actually happening would be very scarce...
Any more comments about this?

A base transfer has never happened in RYR to anyone with a fixed base in their contract. People have changed base once they have been promoted, but have never been transfered unless they have asked for it, once fixed to a base. Ryr is very good at that. I have never even seen anyone go fly out of LTN or vice versa, that is why we have contract pilots to fill in the gaps (many now days). I stand to be corrected by any other ryr pilot on the boards though...

5. LOCATION:
You will be located PRINCIPALLY at Stansted Airport and at such other place or places as the Company reasonably requires for the proper fulfilment of your duties and responsibilities under this Agreement. This would include, for the avoidance of doubt, transfer to any of the Company's European bases without compensation. It must be understood tha should you be transferred to another base you will be paid in accordance with the prevailing salary and flight pay system at that base.
I am entering as a Captain, starting next december. Is it what you call a FIXED BASE? Is everybody's contract like this?
I will be employed by Ryanair, I have nothing to do with Brooksfield or any other contractor...

The grim repa,
Sorry, but I didn't understand I wasn't told anything about keeping my mouth shut, and I don't have nothing to hide about the conditions of my job. Mainly when I have lots of doubts.

If you get a job with Ryanair as opposed to being a contractor the chances of being compulsory rebased are negligible unless you join as an F/O and then upgrade to commander - even then, when there is a vacancy you will be allowed to return.
At a meeting with a bunch of potential new guys, someone asked Michael O'Leary about this clause and he said it was to cover unforeseen events, suchlike as if a terrorist nuked Stansted and the whole base had to be moved !
A lot of rubbish is written on this forum but if you just get on with the job and look at the positive things you are flying new, well maintained aeroplanes to many destinations with interesting colleagues, getting well paid with a roster that allows you to plan your life and getting home in your own bed every night.

French Clover:
I doubt it as GRO is an extremely popular base and I think there is a waiting list at the moment and no expansion plans for the moment, so I would think not for the time being. Ask the recruitment department though.

he [Michael O'Leary] said it was to cover unforeseen events, suchlike as if a terrorist nuked Stansted and the whole base had to be moved !
Which raises some questions ...... have you actually talked to any of your colleagues who have experienced the things complained of? Or do you think some of us sit around making it all up? You also have some colleagues in Dublin who have received very public threats .... do you believe that they too are they too making it up?
The idea that you appear to believe the nonsense spoken by O'Leary is mind-boggling. I just loved this:
... even then, when there is a vacancy you will be allowed to return.

All I was doing was replying to a question and also adding MOL's answer to the same question
I have been with Ryanair for a while now and I do not know of anybody that has been rebased against their will.
On the other hand I know of plenty that have, when a vacancy has arisen been granted a base of their choice.

Nil further, I hope you have 3 hands because I think they would bite your hand off at the moment for your TRI/TRE qualification.Don't know the money they will offer you because I don't aspire to such dizzy heights in RYR(far too stressful thanks) but good luck anyway.Don't think any expansion is planned immediately at PIK but, you know, they will find a way if they want you.Hope you are not leaving Easy "under a cloud" as they do talk to each other when it comes to deciding who is worth poaching from the other.
