Ek A330 X B777
Hi Guys ,
Just have been selected EK´s F/O, and they gave me, an option.
A330 or B777 ?
Please, send me some comments, considering :
1 Promotion
2 Roostering (flights,days off..etc)
3 Salary( per diem ...etc)
4 others vantages
By the end of the year EK will have 31 B777 .... 51 by the end of 2007...so promotion(3 years minimum requirement) will be jeopardized.
On A330 ...29 today and..(no more deliveries)..only on A345 /346 and later A380(total 67)..
I have only 24 hrs to answer......thanks

Indeed a very hard choice.
They are both excellent aircraft i can image how you are feeling at the moment and i wish i was in that same position.
It's all about what you want, and where you see yourself in the future and career progession within EK or outside, i believe an Airbus rating is very valuable, especially if you want to go to the A380 within Ek...

Well, I would say B777.
Not because of the value of the rating, or the aircraft itself. Cause deep down I love the 330.
My opinion is based solely on the bull**** that I read that goes on the 330 fleet at emirates, such as no upgrades and a lot of DEC, apparently not yet happening on the 777 fleet.
Good luck.

Just curious. When do you think EK will start recruiting for the A380? I know that I won't be a consideration for many years to come, but I am curious given the upcoming delivery schedule - I think they start to arrive in 2007-2008.
Will EK likely hire pilots from the street for the A380 or will they source pilots from existing fleets like the A330/A340? Would Airbus pilots likely be preferred over Boeing pilots or is that not really an issue?
At what point would EK likely start recruiting for the A380?
For the 777 vs. A330 question, I would probably take the 777 based upon the very positive feedback I have heard from BA crews who really enjoy the aircraft. The routes for EK's 777s look pretty good too.
Good luck.

Hi there,
I think the most logical choice would be for current A330/A340 pilots within Ek to be considered for the A380 for obvious reasons, i believe the same for Qantas their A330 pilots to progress on to the A380 unless they have other things in mind.

The 777 fleet is growing, while the A330 fleet is stagnant. One more A340-500 comes next month and then that is it for Airbii ( other than the A310 freighter) until mid to late 2007. There may not be much of a difference IF no more DECs are hired and Transition Upgrades are allowed, but assuming the worst you would be best on the 777.

Nice help !
Well guys, decision was made...A330 !
Today B777 is the better option, better flights, but after talking with some Ek'S pilots,I believe EK's future belongs to Airbus family, besides that , I 'm now a A320s rated...so trasition will be smoth.....hope so !
Thanks !

"EKs future lies with Airbus"
Now that's the funniest thing I've heard for a while.
Look up the price of oil and think about this. The 777-300ER uses 22% less fuel per seat than an A340-600 and a 777-200LR uses 26% less fuel per seat than an A340-500. The Boeings are also faster and have more cargo capacity and a huge dispatch reliablility advantage.
Now let's have a look at your business plan, shall we?

Airbus rating is better than???
That is a nice, (but incorrect) assessment of what fleet type to pick.
Just where can you take your UAE liciense and transfer that rating to?
Only place I know of is the UAE.
At least this guy gets a choice of A/C.
Some of the rest didn't.
