easyJet OPC -> LPC

Previously many sims were run as an LPC when it was infact time for an OPC so guys could use it for the ATPL Skills test after getting 1500 hours. In terms of extra work, I believe it is one extra approach single engine...big deal with all the sim time we normally have spare at the end..

I hear now easy have decided this is just not cricket any more and will only run LPC's and OPC's in their correct bi-annual order meaning guys are going to get stung for another 6 months on 7k less pay when they have the hours for it just not the 'Skills Test' and oh what a difference that is..

Rumour was it cost them more for an LPC than an OPC from the Campaign Against Aviation when it came to invoice time and (I imagine more importantly) duck out of paying you more but at a time when they seemingly need to retain first officers. Great, another kick in the nuts...

If it is really a case of extra money to the CAA, I am sure many would pay it, but the way things are people are diving off to Sim's to do an LPC at their own expense plus the cost of the licence issue which easyJet have never paid anyway (circa £180, for a piece of effing paper) and getting the extra pay regardless. All for much more than it would cost to pay the 'Extra' to the CAA they say it costs them. So just what exactly do easyJet think they are saving?? a few pounds on an OPC as opposed to an LPC renewal on bods licences and pi$$ing quite a few people off in the process! Well guys I am sure if you really want to save that cost guys/girls will pay it but just another example of how we are edging closer to T&C's akin to Ryanair..doesn't it make you feel so loyal to easyJet...

Reading all the threads with EZY, this company makes an aviator slowly suspicous?
Is there something "big" going on in the orange country?
Always thought FR is "questionable"?

LPC or OPC!

Makes no difference to getting the green book. If you fulfill all the criteria you dont have to do a skill test. Fill in the form send it off. Blue becomes Green...fantastic

Unfortunately it does matter for getting the green book.

As the campaign will only be too good to point out to you, you have to include a copy of your last LPC when you apply for your ATPL and you have to have met ALL the criteria for issue PRIOR to the date of the LPC.

Of course, as with all things CAA related, the above doesn't necessarily apply it depends who process your application.
Sent mine off at the same time as a mate, both of us included our previous LPC paperwork and both of us had only just scraped up the 1500hrs. Result: I get my green book, my mate gets a nice letter and a reference to LASORS and told to apply again when he's done his next LPC for the reasons mentioned above.

Just got off the phone to a very helpfull chap at the CAA. If you have a JAR-FCL licence you need 1500 hours THEN you need to do an LPC before blue becomes green. - Tron is correct.

You can do an LPC off your own back whenever you want after 1500 hours and then send the form off. So where does one go about hiring a 737Ng and exmainer and how much dosh? Less than 7K I would imagine.
