Ryan Air Training and Pay Question?

As a non rated/self funded first officer joining with over 1000hrs Jar 25, when do they start paying you and when does the flight pay kick in?

I've tried calling them but I can never get hold of anyone.

I really want to work out if I can afford the loan repayments should I choose to fund my own rating.

Not idea to pay but trying to keep all my options open and look at ever possible way to move onto a jet.

Thanks

It is only interesting to work that out once you are hired as the rules change all the time.

Just do a search on Ryanair and will find it explained in a thread last month I think.

Can anyone help me out?

Also wondering if they are still doing the friday recruitment thing at Stansted as it seems to have gone from the website. I was planning to go this friday!

Leo,

Have you been accepted by one of the Ryanair TRTO's yet? If not all this makes no sense. You will only be allowed to the TR after the interview and after you have the blessing of FR.

The TRTO will tell you the cost and also the current pay package of the time. So no need to see what you get and what it costs: you need to be pulled through selection first by an approved TRTO otherwise you are wasting your time....

Not so fast!

Leo has every right to know how much it might cost should he get through, although I must agree that Leo's original post suggest that he already is....!

That isnt what is says on the ryanair website:

Application, Training and Hiring process for pilots with 1000 hours JAR 25 experience

If you have a minimum 1000 hours JAR 25 aircraft experience and a ATPL/IR licence but are not B737-rated then you can Apply Online to Ryanair.

If you are successful in your application, you will be required to obtain and fund your B737-rating from a Ryanair approved organisation.

1. Apply Online

A Stg£50 fee is required, refundable to successful applicants

* Apply Online

2. Interview / Assessment

You will be interviewed by Ryanair. Following a successful interview, you will be required to undergo and pass a simulator assessment by the approved training organisation. A non-refundable fee varies and will be provided on application direct to the organisation.

3. Obtain your B737-rating from a Ryanair approved training organisation

If you pass the simulator assessment, you will be offered a contract to fly for Ryanair subject to obtaining your B737-rating from a Ryanair approved training organisation. See the panel on the left for a list of Ryanair-approved training organisations.

Pilots who successfully complete the flight school and line training elements of the Ryanair 737-800 type rating will be offered contracts to fly for Ryanair

It is only the section for those with less than 1000hrs Jar 25 that seem to need to apply to a TRTO first.

I got an email back from Raj Kurrie. He said that the starting salary would be £24000 plus about £27000 flight pay and this would commence on completion of line training.

Leo8, do a search on this site for the many Ryanair threads and spend the time necessary to read them carefully. Few of us old Ryanair hands are going to spend the time repeating ad nauseum the same warnings over and over again. Read and decide, but don't complain afterwards if you join and don't like what you get!

GGV,

thanks for the warning. I spent an hour reading old ryanair threads last night and yes, it has made me cautious.

I am starting to get very frustrated (and bored) in the airline I am currently in and really need a change. I also feel that the sooner I get onto a decent jet the better for future career prospects. Perhaps ryanair might not be the best choice but some people seem to think it isnt too bad and a lot of the complaints are similar to the ones going around in the airline I currently work for.

I would also benefit greatly from the fixed rosta pattern and blocks of three days off.

Save the GBP 50 and go straight to the TRTO!
