India needs pilots

There is an acute shortage of ATR/Boeing and Airbus pilots in India.

It is forseen that in the next couple of years India will need about 4500 pilots to man the cockpits. India has only about 1500 pilots as of now. It is rumoured that Director General of Civil Aviation (India) will have to relax restrictions on foreign pilots operating Indian registered aircraft so that they are able to operate for periods longer than one year. Private airlines are also approaching airlines in other parts of the world who have excess pilots. So the rush of foreign pilots could well begin. If you need more details let me know.

CPL total time to graduate is less, from 250 to 200 --- its true. Again the problem remains is Mr. DGCA When will they wake up.

How about making the conversion process easyer, for FAA / CASA pilots. How about good flt schools in India. Lowering the stds wil not help the problem only create bigger problems in long run for airlines.
DGCA needs to change ASAP.
