Air Southwest
Afternoon,
Have recently secured employment as an FO with Air Southwest based down in Newquay. Can anyone that works there currently please advise on what the airline is like to work for, how many hours i can expect to do with a year and last but not least, travel perks on the airline. Can you just hop on an ASW plane if there is space or do you need to pay something? I ask this because certain people in my life live near other ASW destinations! Would any potential staff benefits be applicable to girlfreinds/family etc like on other airlines?
Also, any other staff benefits?
All info gratefully recieved!!

Having heard recently alot of good things about the operation and the team down there I just wanted to bring this one back up. Are there any air southwesters who can fill in the blanks? Even a little info can go a long way especially regarding staff travel.
Thanks. jar

Air Southwest is run by a pleasant bunch of people. Generally all ground staff and flying crew get along really well, it’s a fairly relaxed affair. As a new First Officer you can expect to fly approximately 700 hours a year (although the salary will probably drive you away before the year is up), and most of the guys enjoy flying the Dash 8 enormously. Staff travel is on a standby basis, tickets need to be purchased in advance and the airport taxes paid. Some family members are also entitled to staff travel, but that’s about it for benefits I’m afraid.
Hope this was useful.
