Can't understand why you CX guys want to go to mainline. If you are in your twenties then yes it's probably worth trying to get in but if you are over thirty I reckon it's probably not worth it. You will be bottom of a seniority list of around 3500 people and may have to wait what, 12/13 years for a shorthaul command, 20 years for longhaul as a guess? If I was under thirty I would have had a go but I'm nearer 40 and the sums just don't add up - just my personal view. Look at the number of people who express regret at having joined in these forums. I'm not slagging off BA here - I am sure it's a great company to work for if not the best but anyone joining or even thinking about applying needs to think carefully about what they're going to achieve long term. From what my friends tell me it's great if you have some seniority but if you are bottom of the list....................

Well said.
However people still give up commands fron Charter/Loco/regional and come so it begs the question is BA better than these even with no seniority and no chance of a command for a decade?

Perceived security and stability in these troubled industry times is the main driving force - it sure ain't the quality of ther management, or the friendly laid back sociable quality of the pilot workforce!
