Air Malta recruiting at STN, BHX, MAN
Does anyone know anything about working for Air Malta? Passenger feedback looks rather variable, seems to be luck of the draw on the day. Is it a good airline? What are maintenance, ops and rostering like?

Sent myCV yesterday. I used to Dispatch for Air Malta at Stansted. Pilot's seemd a happy friendly bunch, very few problems with tech delays or such like. Believe they took delivery of 3 new A320's this year.

Air Malta was a great airline until it nearly went bottoms up last year. It is still not out of the hot water.
As part of the "recovery plan", from all emplyees, pilots were (are)seriously picked upon, and earlier this year were coersed into surrendering nearly 10% of their monthly wage. This besides other conditions (from the few that were left).
Suffice to say that since June this year, 5% of its own local pilots have already resigned to join other carriers that keep their promises. Pilots presently hired on short term contracts for the UK operation are also fleeing like mice abandoning the sinking ship.
The UK operation is operating on a shoestring and the contract with the Charterer is only renewed every 6 months. Who knows what the future will bring?! The presently employed pilots on the UK contract were made to agree (for those who accepted) a reduction in salary of some 25%, besides having to accept over a month unpaid leave during the lean winter period. (Take it or leave it!) Now you can see why they had to resort to advertising in Flight........for the first time ever in their history.
As from next month, the aircraft which will fly in UK will be supplied by the Malta fleet, which in turn will be downsized, so it is only natural for Air Malta to transfer its own extra pilots to the UK operation. Rumour has it that the sole reason for advertising these positions is to manoever against the local pilot's demands.

Dear Air Malta,
Would it really kill you to simply have the courtesy to acknowledge the applications that you specifically requested through your advertisement last month?!
