I start to get panic!!!!!!

hi fellow pilots!

now, after a few years of no or almost no jobs in aviation, the situation is changing. there are jobs. but not a single one for me!
I start to panic, because i think i will be stucked on the turboprops forever.

I´m currently captain with around 4000 hours total. but there is not a single job for me out there!

I applied for china airlines, cathay pacific, gulf air quatar airways, but haven´t heard a single word of all them. so now i´m getting a little nervous. my current company is not doeing so good at this time. so i´m afraid of loosing my job pretty soon.

my biggest problem is that i´m only have experience on turboprop aircraft, and that my atpl os not a jar one.
so some people keep telling me that i should make a JAR atpl, and then pay to go to ryanair. well, maybe that would work out, but I´m not really happy to spend another 40000 euro.

so, what do you think. what are your pilot friends doing? or what are you doing by yourself? what are my chances to get hired somewhere?

thank you very much for any help, or just good and motivating words!

No matter what you do, I strongly advice you to get your ATPL converted into a JAA one if you're able to. This will make you a lot more marketable with airlines.

For the rest I wish you all the best of luck/strength, maybe easyJet has got a place for you?

This industry is one of persistence and networking. Maybe you need to actually meet more pilots and introduce yourself. Networking more can only help you. Perhaps you can join pilot associations in your area if there are any.

You must be persistent and have faith. You have great flight time - you now need to meet the right people.

You would'nt need 40,000 euros as tou would only need to pass the written exams,

Less than 2000 euros, but many hours with your head in books again

thank you very much for the replies and the motivating words!

well I live in austria, wich is a pretty small country, so if you know somebody he is flying for one of the few austrian airlines.
and not a single one of them would be a better career, except austrian, but there´s no chance to join for me.

so for the JAR atpl I only need to make the written tests? I don´t think so.

well there must be a possibility to go somewhere, and fly a jet without making a JAR licence???

so do you think, if you know somebody in an bigger airline it would be an atvantage??

thank you very much!

Styrian Spirit are recruiting for pilots on the CRJ out of Graz and Salzburg.
The chief is Jan Kisling. If you PM or email me I'll send you his email address.
