People do actually leave Virgin for reasons other than events such as 9/11.
Most of the people i know who left did so as commuting became a pain.
Its a great company, with great people, but if you are planning on commuting then make sure you get on the Airbus as life will be easier than on the Boeing.
Rgds.

Thanks Scroggs and others,
In some way that is actually a consolation to me. It means i haven't been rejected and also that there is nothing i could be doing that i haven't already.
It also means that i will get on with my life and other applications, and if and when that great call arrives i will go for it then.

Virgin Recruitment
Can anyone tell me if Virgin Atl. are recruiting onto the 400? Presently I am operating the 400 for a S.E. Asian carrier... in Hong Kong ( ). Sick and tired of the BS that is embedded in the checking department and looking to use the bang seat and egress shortly . To whom do I mail the begging letter? Any input appreciated

Hiring at Virgin Atlantic from other Virgin Group Companies
If one works for another Virgin Group company and applies to Virgin Atlantic -- is it considered an "internal application" or is the applicant given preference over "from the street" hires?

Not quite: every amount of salary you claimed tax back on in the UK has to be decleared to the french tax man. French taxes are lower than the uk refund tough. I did some contract work for a UK company and the french taxman recently found out... The inspector, who I dealt with, told me I was not the only one he was after and a friend in EZY-Paris told me the french tax man is after them as well. So be carefull and seek advise of a professional!

Starting pay for a VS FO from January 2007 is £45,739. Profit-related additional pay, paid per flying hour, will add around £13,000 assuming the 750 hours contracted are flown This figure can go down as well as up! Pension contributions are paid on the total. Downroute subsistence allowances add approximately £5-600 per month tax-free. The effects of tax on the salary and additional figures are too individual to be generalised sensibly, especially if you are a commuter from another country.

The million dollar question and maybe it's been asked already as I havent read every page on this thread.......
When it comes to long haul, BA or Virgin ?
Is there anybody who has experience of both? And given the choice, who would people favour?

Virgin F/Os
Is there such a thing?
Just a few questions to any Airbus Virgin F/Os out there.
1) What sort of routes do you do? Where are the regular destinations?
2) How many trips per month. Generally how long are they?
3) i.e. how much time at home per month on ave?
4) What's the starting salary, what can you expect to earn in allowances pa?
5) How does the rostering work - rolling six week roster?
6) Bones of the pension - money purchase? What do the company contribute?
7) What base could one expect for 340 or future 330?
8) Good bunch of guys? Happy company or company infighting ie BMI?
Any inside views greatly appreciated. If you feel some of the above is too sensitive for a public forum please pm me. Cheers all.
