Would anyone like to offer their interview experiences at Atlanta? Particularly any tech questions that can come up. Any help much appreciated.

Sally,they ask straight forward routine questions that you will obviously be familiar with as a professional pilot ie the effect of humidity on the speed of sound,the pounds to kilos constant off the top of your head to seven decimal places, what sort of hold entry you do for a hold of 247 Right hand when coming in on a bearing of 136 at Lydd VOR below FL120,what DODAR stands for in CRM and what the climb rate response should be for a 'Climb,crossing climb' TCAS ll warning.Dead easy,but whatever you do,don't start on about your time in Ansett.The 'English' or 'whinging Pomm' attitude is well appreciated here in the old country..but only bettered(or should it be ..worsed) by the Auzzie ..when I was in Ansett ..we waz sold down the dunnie ..crap,talked by Australians about an airline that,at the end of the day, just went bust.Atlanta could easily go the same way.It is what happens to airlines...just ask 411A.Just one more thing..you'll be told by the Irishman that a command is just round the corner..he's talking bollocks(always has ..always will..but is a nice guy once you have that in your head).There are many command ready F/Os in Atlanta who are being passed by.The Icelandics look after the Icelandic/Scandanavian set and even if you are a 74/75/76 test pilot with 10,000 hours on type,you will be bypassed for command by an'in cruise relief..while the old man is having a pee..thousand hour copilot' from SAS who doesn't know port from a pudding.
That makes two things at the interview,don't mention Ansett..and don't get here and start whinging for a command..cos it ain't going to happen.
Best of luck an gooday!

Abra,

MANY thanks for your detailed reply. It's a relief to get some good info from ppruners, there's so much opinionated drivel here a lot of the time. Much appreciated!

Hey, abra: I have travelled a great deal, but I don't know what DODAR stands for. Could you tell us?

In Atlanta DODAR means

D= Determined
O= Operate
D= Daily
A= Against
R= Regulations

Cheers

Howlowcanugo: Should we tell everyone why you were sacked from AAI?

A good post and how very very true.

Forget about experience, ability or anything like that. Being of the master race of Scandinavia, is a big plus for command prospects.

Unless the F/O's who are waiting and are obviously ready for command upgrades, take some form of direct action as a group, they will continue to be bypassed. Stand up for your selfs by making a command decision and stick to it.

Pilots being pilots of course will never stick together, so your noses will continue to "rubbed in it."

Yes, you have signed contracts but I don't recall seeing "being walked on" as part of the T & C's.

Could anyone shed some more light on how the selection process and interview works for AAE?
Also, I would appreciate any info regarding AAE's terms and conditions!

Thanks a lot for your help!!
