CAL recruitment

Seems like CAL is recruiting for the B744, but require pilots to pay for the type rating through G.A.S.
Would it be worth it? What's life like for a SO/FO in CAL? (Rostering/pay/leave/ID staff travel etc)
Would it be too much of a cultural shock for a European pilot used to good CRM and friendly atmosphere on the flight deck?

Thanks!

PAY FOR YOUR TYPE RATING!!

Is that just for the 747-400, or all their Types?
If so I'm withdrawing my application.

Crossunder, I am pretty sure CAL would not expect you to pay, directly, for a rating. They will, however, bond you in $US, the amount depending on type, for the rating. My advice to you is to be very careful in taking an F/O position with ANY asian airline as you are treated (generally)as low life by the locals Capts.
