SkyEurope starting salary
Well - I'm not bashing anyone here, but according to ppjn.com I notice that the starting salary of F/O at SkyEurope is 1250 € a month. When clicking the "What does low-fare mean?" link, I found no "we don't pay our flight crew anything" explanations...
This pay is conciderable amount less then the unemployment check here in Denmark at least.
So my topic of discussion is; will the lower point of wages carry on going downward or is this an all-time-low? Are there other operators practising this?

Commander,
"will the lower point of wages carry on going downward or is this an all-time-low? Are there other operators practising this?"
I think the answer to your question depends on if the company gets enough "qualified and experienced" pilots to suit them. It seems to me that the whole issue of pilot compensation is a supply and demand thing. As long as there are more pilots than jobs there will be downward pressure on pay/benefits/conditions.
If the company gets flooded with applicants with suitable qualifications then maybe the pay will go even lower.
I've noticed that in my own case, as more and more pilots have become available on the A320 contract market, rates have fallen through the floor. Some current contract rates for captains pay less than f/o rates of 7 or 8 years ago.
Until or unless the supply of people willing to work/fly for the rates offered falls off I doubt very much that pay will generally increase.
This is not a criticism of the people flying for the lower pay. Its not a suggestion that people "hold out" or pressure others from accepting the lower compensation. This is the reality of the industry and our profession.

Take in to account too that the cost of living in Bratislava is next to nothing either plus that there is a flight hour pay on top of the 1250 as well.
Still it is a low amount but as soon as the FO's have the experience and leave for greener fields the rates will go up! SE does not understand yet that this part of their employees is very mobile and hence low local rates will not stick in the end..
The Captain pay is such that they will only be able to hire local guys I guess it is very low as well...

Well seems they are in a though spot... i think hiring PARC guys is not the "low-cost" option they where hoping for.
Have patience and look around ... there are more and more jobs comming avail so the rates will go up even here in BTS,
Don't beleive the fairy tales they are telling that live is cheap in BTS. that is only for the locals, as a foreign pilot you will pay foreign prices. and they are certainly not of the lowcost type.
I agree that alot of prices are low, but are you going to live on beer all day? no we need more than that!
Then again......Woman here are unbelievable... realy

as I understand from some friends flying there, most of the FOs that get that salary are inexperienced,no more that 2-300 hrs TT .Parc pilots,of course get more money, but this is only temporary, untill they train their own pilots.Except of course if they won't leave also, after getting some decent hrs.
These days,it can be dificult to raise your jet experience,so maybe this salary won't be so low for some 22 yrs young pilots.
When they'll be 25 with,maybe 2-3000 hrs,they'll probably think different.
