Thumbs down DHL Air - 'Loss of Licence Insurance' scheme problems

I have it on good authority that DHL Air, Loss of Licence Insurance scheme is not paying out as it should, there have been several problems with pilots claims, including one individual who applied in about May 2003 (6 months ago) for the 'temporary loss payment' and my understanding is, that to date, the pilot in question has received not a single penny, even though his application was perfectly in order and was entitled to a monthly sum from the scheme from about May of this year.

If this situtation is true then anyone working for this company can not rely on it's Loss of Licence Scheme to pay out.

In summary:

A 'Loss of Licence Insurance' Scheme is often regarded as an important contractual incentive for many pilots when joining a particular company and also gives great reassurance to an individual should his or her Licence be temporarily or permanently suspended, if this scheme can not be relied upon then questions must be asked of the company.

Not DHL personally but have been advised to sort out my own scheme for loss of licence insurance "just in case".

Presumably this would also suit if/when a company move was on the cards. Do you have any advice on where to go for independent LoL Cover?

Took out extra cover to top up my company scheme recently. If you are a Balpa member nobody else can get anywhere near their rates:-

E.g. Age 30 £2.64 per month per £10,000 of cover.

£150,000 worth of cover for £39.60 a month!!

Not sure if they quote for non-members. Tel No. 020 8476 4000
