MK Airlines - Good outfit to fly for? Questions

I have read many of the previous posts about MK Airlines - most seem pretty negative. Obvious concerns about maintenance, cost-cutting, foreign crewing, etc. But I understand that a lot of this is opinion and second-hand (although some is personal experience).

Would you consider flying for MK Airlines if you had the opportunity out of Manston? Flying a DC-8 or B747 to exotic African destinations would be interesting flying - certainly not the computer button-pushing we seem to have today (computer cruise control).

So, do you know of any good reasons to fly for MK Airlines in your opinion? I have read many of the negative opinions...

Would you fly for MK Airlines if you had the opportunity? Do you know of any hiring planned? How do current pilots like the operation and schedules/destinations? How many pilots are based out of Manston (any other primary bases)? Lastly, what are the approx. salary ranges for newhire FOs?

Writing off the older DC8's seemed to become a habit, the nosewheel retraction on stand at Manston for one and the wreck(s) alongside the runway in Port Harcourt for others!
Nothing like an overweight freighter is there hey!

mk followed us all round africa last week, rt was good, crews were mostly expats- operation good, but their marketting is very predatory and the more they challenge established carriers with aggressive cost cutting the more people will scream and shout at ghanian registered a/c flying fifth freedom charters thru the world, and those engines need to come off at soon, d70a stage 3.. my @rse..
..a real 400f fan

Certain irony that the BBC 2 'Farewell to Concorde' prgramme also went live from Filton within the hangar that produced the beast. The a/c in there was an MK DC8 and one of the ex SSC test pilots was interviewed on the flight deck of said DC8.

Question Rate dumping by MK ?

As far as I know, MK have always been found rather wanting when it comes to cheap rates. Also, what rate are you refering to ACMI ?. The ACMI, full charter or freight rates ?. As far as I am aware, all MK freight rates are sold by brokers so that the airline can get on with the business of operating planes rather than financing rows of way bill cutters (no disrespect ?). The MK full charter and ACMI rates are often the highest returned in any RFQ.

Sales typey.

Thumbs up MK AIRLINES great company

MK is realy a great company I have only heard good things about them and maybe one or two bad things but I think the bad things were from people who resented MK Mike Kruger has done some good bussines and he also has some realy sound contracts they realy do fly all over the world ! I have a couple of mates there in fact my brother in law flies for them and he smiles to the bank ! They now have taken a knock in salarys due to the rand dollar exchange well that is the guys living in South Africa. Not a bad choice of company at all !!
Regards

I believe that crew rostering is very disorganised at the moment. Diesel 8 F O's are doing about 3 weeks out and 9 days home. Sign of being short of crews to me!
