Anyone got any first hand experience from Vietnam Airlines and what living in Vietnam is like?
Don't exactly know how serious the contract agency is that I'm speaking to at present, but judging from the correspondence I might find myself being offered a contract with them.

Brenoch,
What agency are you in contact with? What’s the pay like? Can you commute or do you have to be based there?
Some of the chaps I know used to fly there, but apparently it depends which agency you work for. Most of the comments were positive.

The pay is quite allright methinks.. Scheduled 6 weeks on and then 2 weeks home leave. As I understand it they'll take you home on your home leave.
As my anonymity has been compromised on this forum I'm not sure I'm at ease to disclose the contract agency at this stage as the papers aren't signed.
However I'll keep you posted as things unfold and thanks for your reply.

In my experience, Vietnam is a fascinating country, if you can stand the sedate pace of life and reams of red tape (more than most South Asian countries!!)
Interesting ex-pat community....
Hanoi more cosmopolitan than HCM City.
Lovely food.
Marvellously warm people.
Go to the Co Chi tunnels and fire an AK47!
Most people stick with it for two or three years.
