The new Concorde

Being develops in the US, anyone know anything about it?

OldLurker 5th November 2024 12:15

Apparently under development by a company that's infelicitously called Boom.

Their 1/3rd scale demonstrator has carried out a number of flights. There are some interesting Youtube videos online showing how they carry out their test flights, see here for an example: Full BOOM XP-1 Flutter narrated 4th flight test - PPRuNe Forums

It seems to be a Chinese concept for a rocket launched passenger aircraft that can land backwards, musk style and then be reused. One hour from China to Dubai is given as an example in their advertisement movie.

Wake me up when it goes supersonic....
Then I'll take another long nap while they arrange the tens of billions in financing it would take to get it certified and into commercial production...
