Why are XL's 737's ETOPS certified?
Hello,
ive been working with G-XLAO today at MAN and i saw the 'ETOPS' decal on the nose gear flap, obsviously stating that it had been certified for ETOPS operations.... can anyone enlighten me? thankyou, G-STAW |
Maybe they are going to operate........................ETOPS?
There's the 'vacant' Astraeus Deer Lake service for starters. |
obsviously that would be the right thinking, that they may be future proofing for future operations, but they havent even hinted at anthing,
just for your informations the two new -900 series both AP and AR are also certified 'ETOPS'.... G-STAW |
All NGs are ETOPS certified on manufacture, I believe. It is the company that needs to set up the approval for the flights.

Maybe those 737's pass the minimum req't for ETOPS operation, since we've all noticed that previous ETOPS planes were way bigger and larger than the 737's, and we've all been accustomed to 737's as short-medium hauler. it's a very big step, so let's wish em' luck.
now.. don't ask me what the req'ts are, didn't bring my books with me... :E cheers! |
Ahh, AO today, "insert 10p to play" Was that you G-STAW? Made me chuckle just before going to RHO! :D

LOL, sorry mate, the previous crew left us a little message on the FD just before we took her to RHO. Just wondering if it was you? :)
As for the ETOPS thing, as BOAC says, I’m pretty sure all new NG’s are ETOPS certified from the factory. |
