Why are XL's 737's ETOPS certified?
Hello,

can anyone enlighten me?

obsviously that would be the right thinking, that they may be future proofing for future operations, but they havent even hinted at anthing,
just for your informations the two new -900 series both AP and AR are also certified 'ETOPS'....

Maybe those 737's pass the minimum req't for ETOPS operation, since we've all noticed that previous ETOPS planes were way bigger and larger than the 737's, and we've all been accustomed to 737's as short-medium hauler. it's a very big step, so let's wish em' luck.
now.. don't ask me what the req'ts are, didn't bring my books with me...
cheers!

LOL, sorry mate, the previous crew left us a little message on the FD just before we took her to RHO. Just wondering if it was you?
As for the ETOPS thing, as BOAC says, I’m pretty sure all new NG’s are ETOPS certified from the factory.
