A319 Short Field Performance ?
Hi,
Was PAX very recently on a A319 into EGLL landing on 27L - the only unusual thing about that being: 1. Whoever was handling managed to stop the the a/c and vacate onto taxiway Alpha (formerly R/W23). A pretty tidy shortfield arrival and something I hadn't seen done since our collegues at British Midland and Brymon used to run their DHC-7s into LHR. 2. It seemed to be well withing the a/c capabilities - i.e no tooth dislodging braking and snaking etc etc Me not being familar with the perfomance of the 319, I was wondering is this typical? any one else vacate onto alpha to make the journey to the various T1 stands quicker? Cheers |
You'd need one or more of the following to achieve alpha off 27L:
1) A stonking headwind and a light aircraft leading to a low groundspeed. 2) Hammering the brakes. 3) Ducking under the glideslope. If somebody had suggested this kind of thing when I was flying the 319 I'd certainly have raised an eyebrow! |
Hi,
this is what I guessed - given the absence of condition '2', I can only assume that '1' and '3' were true ! Tea and biscuits time? or just a little bit frowned on? |
