A320 FMA question

In FCOM 1 – Auto Flight-Approach capabilities

Second Line Color Meaning
SINGLE white CAT 3 capability available, with FAIL PASSIVE condition.

DUAL white CAT 3 capability available with FAIL OPERATIONAL condition.

Could someone explain it please with an examples.

CAT 3 SINGLE (1 AP) = Fail passive = without redundancy. If a failure occurs, the approach capabilities will be downgraded and no autoland can be continued.

CAT 3 DUAL (2 APs) = Fail operational. There will be a redundancy that safes the autoland capabilities. It is still operational, but will revert to CAT 3 SINGLE.
