B737NG Turbulence & Dutch Roll with AP
 

Hello all,

Heard a rumour today that the NG doesn't like flying in heavy turbulence with the AP engaged. Has anyone ever experienced this? Supposedly the AP excites the dutch roll to give a nasty flying experience for all.

Has anyone seen or heard about this?

Same with the Embraer145 but with this aircraft the A/P disengages itself :eek: :ooh: :\ and has to be flown manually.

In heavy turbulence one should try to mantain attitude not altitude.This is the reason for Boeing saying to fly with a/p in CWS and a/t disconnected.By doing this the plane will not try to mantain altitude (which will result in more abrupt manouvres in case of heavy turb) ,but will try to mantain attitude set by the pilot.
Nothing to do with dutch roll (has nothing to do with a/p or turbulence)

Lot of time on the airplane and have never experienced this or heard of it. However, this airplane does not behave well with yaw damper out and I would be very reluctant to dispatch with it out and pax onboard.
