628kts GS on a 738
Has anyone gone faster than 628kts GS in a 737 yet? I was quite impressed the other night somewhere over the Pennines(UK when I hit this dizzy speed.

Geez toecutter that must have been the same day I saw 425Kts G/S for most of the way at that level Per/Adl in a C421C. Coulda made Mel non stop if I had been brave enough.

I'm not sure if these records are acceptable if Omega was the Nav unit measuring it? I am happy to accept IRS,INS,GPS,Loran C,Doppler and thats about it.
On the subject of Omega (ret'd), I am really glad submarines only went at 30 to 40 kts!!

In those days it was the GS mode of a quaint form of kit called a Van X DME, forerunner to the current Int DME. DME an Oz invention by AWA in the good old days, when men were men, drank beer instead of chardonnay, leapt tall buildings with VLF Omega gear and wimmen did the washing up and ironed blokes shirts
BTW if Superman is so smart how come he wears his underpants outside his tights.

Broke 1000kts GS once and once only in a Phantom with a 170kts Southerly(!) tailwind over the North Sea.
Surely this thread is a little off topic now..?
I can't wait for the first SR71 driver to chip in...

Great number for a 737!!!
How much of TW?
The best number I got was 550 Kts on a 733! We intencionally increased it to almost barber pole to see how much could we get!
But 628... That`s something!!!
Cheers
